Jo:

For locations, if you "combine" the unwanted location with the blank location
that appears at the top of the location list, it effectively deletes it.

For sources, if you try to delete it you get a message which says it is being
used and asks if you want to view the records that are using it. Click "Yes".
On the right side of the next window you will see a button which says "Delete
this Master Source and All Citations to It?". I think this should do what you
want.
