FTM allowed one to enter a detail without a source attached to it. That was
a mistake for me to do it, because when I imported my FTM file into Legacy
all those myriad Citations suddenly became separate Sources. Thankfully
Legacy had the tools to allow me to pull them all together. This was what I
was trying to explain to Keeka, You can highlight a source to combine it
into another, or only edit the source, not create and delete. You can even
use Global Search and Replace to change/edit several sources at once.

Legacy has several tools to make it easier, but we all tend to make it more
complicated. I have been using Legacy for 8 months and still I find new and
easier ways to do things.
That is why this list is great.

Everyone has great ideas and it is good to see another or easier way to do
something that I did not know Legacy was able to do.

Acutally, I think I can blame other programs Louise! When I first
started using Family Tree Maker, the source field was 80 characters
long. That was it. How do you put a decent source in with only 80
characters? I did a *lot* of abbreviating! The next few upgrades
weren't much better - although it did go up to 256 characters
eventually. I don't know how their sources look now, but I'm still
trying to fix the mess that I got from using their source feature.

Not to mention the fact that even with an increased field, there was
never any good instructions about sourcing and being a newbie, I just
tried to wing it!
