You have the ability to sort it that way now. It would take some
editing, though. In the Master Source List for each source you have a
Master Source name, and a Master source title.
For me they are usually the same, but for organization's sake I put a
word in front, usually the Source type, so that all Files, all Webpages,
all Reports, all Censuses, (well you get the idea) are next to each
other, no matter what the real title is.

For you, all you would have to do is include the File Referernce Number
as the first part of every source and not as a part of the Title.
Say like this

SOURCE LIST NAME: <your Reference Number here>, BIOGRAPHICAL SOUVENIR OF
THE STATE OF TEXAS
AUTHOR: Unknown Author
TITLE: BIOGRAPHICAL SOUVENIR OF THE STATE OF TEXAS

This way your Sources will sort by the File Referernce Number and you
won't have to wait for Legacy Version 5.0!

Subject: [LegacyUG] Source File Referernce Number Sorting

I like lots of the features of Legacy and was pleased to hear about 4 0.

I had hoped (since I had sent in several requests for this feature)
that an option to sort sources by File Reference Number would be
included, since, if a serious researcher is using this feature, he
probably has his documents coded and filed in numerical order and would
like to have an inventory list of them accessible from within Legacy.
Now, I have to keep a separate file (in Microsoft Access) sorted by
Reference Number so that I can identify new documents properly without
duplication, etc. Am I missing anything in the new release--is that
feature enabled yet? If not, why not?
