Re: Holly Wanless Cochran 4/15/2002 5:40 PM Reminds me a bit of the problem I had on the 15th. Both Desc. Book and Narrative were transposing the pictures of the husband and wife. Wife's picture was placed with the husbands name and husbands picture appeared with the wife's name.
I sent a bug report and closed Legacy. Later when I came back to the User Group I had a response that said the responding individual had ran it on five different people and no pictures were transposed. I then again opened Legacy and ran both book reports and sure enough, this time the husband and wife pictures were not transposed. I wrote it off to whatever fate had determined but now I read that apparently others are occasionally having unexplainable intermittent failures of a type now you see it now you don't. Ah yes.....looks like Legacy programmers have some difficult work to undertake to discover why pictures are occasionally transposed or data is missing then it is not missing. As much as I like Legacy to date, I have this feeling that Legacy has some problems (although different) but equally as serious as FTM. Currently it would be an error on my part to attempt to print Legacy multiple reports and trees for distribution because I would have to verify every entry on every report, picture or data to be certain it wasn't dropped or transposed. I have also encountered a few more problems that I have not reported or mentioned on this forum - hoping that one of the upcoming builds will correct them. Can You imagine the programming staff not catching leaders on descendent charts printing right through the pictures on descendent charts. That one I reported two builds back and it is still there and repeatable. Or how about this one also reported - the word parents and parents names printing right on top of the bottom line of a box when the box option is selected on descendent charts. How obvious does a problem have to be before it is caught and corrected on test runs before the release of a build. Perhaps my critiques upset some of you long time dedicated and supportive users. I truly regret that if such is the case. However, I am a very new user of Legacy, having switched from FTM about 6 weeks, more or less, ago - and I expect better of the Legacy programming staff when it involves the very obvious type of failures. I switched because of the attitude toward customers displayed by FTM along with additional reasons, primary of which was when using Windows XP I discovered that I could no longer print the second page and higher of multiple page Text Items in book format. Of course FTM being what it is will ignore the Problem until a new release is provided which they can charge for. In the meantime I and others who used XP and multiple page text items in a book were left without the ability to print books containing multiple page text items. Now I find with Legacy that I once again am extremely reluctant to print reports of various types for distributions due to the uncertainty of what will appear or not appear on the documents. It is too early for me to make a decision, however I am beginning to question my wisdom in making the switch to Legacy from FTM. I know eventually FTM will correct the Text Item Multiple page failure but will Legacy ever be able to correct a problem as intermittent as transposing pictures on descendent books and narratives or now you see it now you don't data on a report.
