I don't think that will work - sources attached to event notes simply attach to the main note. For example, if you attach source 1 to the birthdate, then add source 2 to a birth note - when you look at the Assigned Sources window, you will just see Birth with source 1 and source 2 attached to it. What I mean is, your report will not show which specific part of the birth data each source applies to.

It seems to me that Legacy falters when you source information which isn't there (nothing in date and/or location). If you've got other information on a birth I suppose you would have to enter that in birth-notes (under the plus-sign) and source that.
