Hi,

agreed, 'this' should stop here (contradicting myself while posting
this), but maybe it won't, at least not for too long a time.

What we encounter here isn't much different than what's happening at
other mailing lists, fora etc. There's some kind of Leverage or
Magnifying-glass effect being at work: A single frustrated user get's
a lot of attention. But this shouldn't throw the rest of us into a
panic! We should simply let it pass by and get back to work.

But I'm also feeling with the programmers and testers who get that
kind of fire - IMHO rather undeservedly. Many of us mere mortal users
don't have a clue what this kind of program means to put into code,
test, debug and eventually make work satisfactorily. And some
certainly have a misconception about the role of the testers. This it
where some posts may originate, that do sound unfriendly or
inappropriate, to say the least ("How did this get by the program
testers???").

Most users also won't have an idea about the complexity at work with a
program like Legacy. I'm not a (professional) programmer myself, but
just know enough in order to appreciate the great job that it's
creators are doing. Thanks to Michel's recent post, it should now also
be obvious how interfacing Legacy output with other software (Word &
WordPerfect etc.) brings up new issues, which are difficult to solve,
if at all.

Maybe we all should also try to compare what we get from huge software
factories with what we get from Millenia (including bugs that aren't
solved through several years, responsiveness if we try to get help,
and also comparing the price tags!). Personally, I have given up and
don't hope for improvement with several of the OS'es, Office suites
etc. I'm a user of since many years now. Re. Legacy, I still do hope
to see the main glitches repaired (instead of new features being
added) ;-))

Just my 2 cents worth : )

Tilman
