(first message!)
Looking, for the first time, at the archive for
this mail list, two problems are apparent, both dealing
with the "obfuscation" attempts to make the email
addresses more difficult for a spammer to grab.
1. The code @ is used to encode the
commercial-at-sign (@) in email addresses. While
the leading zeros in this form of character entity
are permitted, they only confuse most browsers,
e.g. Opera (v4), OffByOne (3.2.J), Netscape (4.7).
Only Mozilla (1.1) and IE (6.0) seem nonplused.
So: Why put them in there, when the more common
form, @ would do as well, and be more widely
known?
2. The substitution process has a flaw, as revealed
by this message:

Look at the second email address of the quoted
original message (in brackets); The semicolon has
become separated from the rest of the entity.
