I have, I think, all the information that Legacy has provided about tagging
with my Legacy 4.0 Deluxe, as well as some cut-and-pasted comments from this
user group. Yet I still struggle to understand. For example:
I want to separate my wifes line from our combined file and give hers a
file of its own. Tagging seems the easiest way. So I open her family file,
where she is highlighted; then go to Edit>Tag records. Now I have the
Advanced Tagging menu with her name in the title box, and from there it
looks easy. First, I "Clear all tags, all #s, for Everyone." Then I click
the first number for Tag 1, then > Ancestors>Ancestor Options>Entire
Ancestor Line.
But when I check the Name List, I see that every single name on both sides
of our family is tagged. When I test it, by opening a new family file and
importing from the current one, selecting only tagged indidividuals, I end
up back where I started.
Obviously, I'm missing something that is probably very simple, but I just
can't figure it all out.
