Rob,

There is a good explanation in the Legacy Help file of how to address this issue.
There are several routes to get to this specific help information and I will describe
one of them. I am assuming you are using Legacy 5.0 Deluxe version.

1. In Family View, double click on name of the individual in question and then double
click on the Occupation event in question.

2. Left click the blue down arrow to the right of the Event field, which brings you to
the Master Event Description List. (This can also be reached by clicking on View from
the Toolbar at the top of the screen, then choosing Master Lists and finally choosing
Event Description.) Next key in oc in the Find field and this will highlight the
Occupation event definition.

3. Choose Edit while Occupation event is highlighted and this will bring up a detailed
screen where you have the ability to define which fields are displayed for this
specific Event Description and how you would like a sentence to read for this type of
event.

4. Click on the Help icon in the upper right corner of the screen and you will find a
detailed explanation of how this default event is set up and how you can customize it
to fit your individual needs. Read "all" of this Help screen and you will find that
what you enter in the Description field would normally be Project Manager for your
specific question. According to the Help text, originally Legacy did not have an
Event Description field and then the Occupation description was entered in the Notes
field. Those people that already have this information entered in the Notes field can
continue to have it print out correctly by leaving the Description field blank.

In case you haven't noticed, as you enter information in the various fields the
sentence is "built" below the Notes field as it will read in a report. Additionally,
you can choose to use an "Override Sentence" for this one specific entry without
affecting the defaults for all other events of a like type.

This Help file also includes a good explanation of how using the tilde (~) at the
beginning of a Place field will cause the short location name to be used instead of
the long location name.

Note: The ability to modify sentence structure is one of those features that is
limited to the Deluxe Edition of Legacy. Since I am using the Deluxe Edition I assume
that those people using the Standard Edition are able to access the specific Help
information I have referenced above but they will not be able to use these functions.

Let me know if you are using the Standard Edition and are not able to get to the Help
file this way. I should be able to find a different route unless all the Deluxe
Version Help is made accessible only when you upgrade to the Deluxe Version, some of
the best genealogy dollars you will spend.
