You can switch off the music whith the "stop loading" button in your browser, mostly.
I too don't like to hear music or audio on web-pages when it's not essential to the content on the page. I've got my own music at home and when I want to hear that I'm perfectly able to turn the stereo on. Often the songs are of a very poor (midi-)quality too or aren't to my taste.
