What I do in  such cases, I ALWAYS attach a note next to the documents
stating:
"If there are possible errors on these documents, please correct them on
the page. I am never going to remember a hundred different changes from 
one hundred conversations. Please sign your notes, so I can find you if
needed.  Then I can thank you for your great help."
Leave various colored pens (pencils) for corrections.
Also, inf a situation such as you describe, I correct it before the party,
if possible. It is easier to explain a comp/program problem when the
relatives see the corrections already made. But hindsight is Golden. I am
not saying anything about fault, but about covering yourself as an expert
and looking good for family.
