Only thing I can suggest would be to switch back to individual mail, and
then setup a filter to put all of the legacy mails into a separate folder
upon download from the server.  This way, you can read at your own leisure
and not have all of that clutter in your inbox.

This is what I do with my different mail groups.

Just a suggestion.
