I have encountered some "potential problems" in the "Potential Problems
Report". I am using the latest V5 release (18 Oct 5.0.0.34) build.
I have approx 15,000 names in my database. My V4 database had no names
appearing when I ran the Potential Problems report. This was due to
the
fact that I had marked several hundred as "exclude from potential
problem report" after checking and verifying their accuracy.
When I converted this same db to V5 and ran the "Potential Problems
Report" I now had 4 pages (41 names) of problems. In checking these
names against the v4 db I found that they were all marked to exclude.
I
then checked the v5 and none of these 41 names were marked. I then
checked some marked names from v4 that hadn't showed up in the V5 list
and none of these were marked to exclude. In fact, I could find no
names that were marked to exclude in v5 which should have generated
several hundred problems but somehow it only found 41 to report!
I then chose in v5 to mark to of these 41 names as excluded. I chose
to
do this in two different ways.
1) From the family view, I clicked the individual to bring up the
"edit" screen, went to the bottom and clicked the exlude button
and
then chose the appropriate condition (ie same surname). When
exiting, I verified that there was now an asterisk on the button.
2) From the name list, I located the next name and then chose the
"edit" tab and marked the exclude box. I was not given the option
of a new screen of "reasons" to tick like I would be from the
family view "edit" screen.
After marking these two individuals, I checked the first one and he was
not showing as excluded in the "edit" tab of the Name list. Nor was
the
second person showing as exluded in the family view edit screen! These
exlusions were not being propagated to the alternate "exclude"
locations.
However, somehow something must have worked because they no longer show
up on the Potential Problem report. However, I would like to suggest
that a potential problem still exists here, especially in converting
from v4 to v5. I really don't look forward to having to re-mark the
remaining 39 people (even though it could have been hundreds). Also,
which method should I use, #1 or #2 above. Is there any plans to do a
search to create a list of all people that are marked as excluded.
