Hello Steve
I have removed the 1 Robinson from the Higton file I now want to import just
the Robinson's from another legacy file leaving the Higton's behind and join
it to the present Higton file.
How do I do that? Can I just flag the Robinson's

Thomas,

Two choices:

(1) Use the merge feature to combine the same individuals in both

      or

(2)Delete all the Higton prior to the import:

Search->Find...

Select Detailed Tab

Look for whom? Individual
Where to look: Last Name
How to look: Equal To
What to look for: Higton

Toggle Clear List before this search

Click Create List

In Search List window:

click Options->Advanced Deleting...

In the Advanced deleting window select Delete all Individuals in teh current
Search List

Click Apply.

Hello
Thankyou for the replies on this one. But the problem is I have 2 Legacy
files 1 contains some Higtons and all my Robinson and the other contain
Higton only but more of them.
I want to remove the Higton from the first file and add all the Higton from
the new file
Any idea.

Thomas,

Use File->Import From... to import your data. Once imported, go through the
merge process (if required) and then simply link Margaret to the correct
Robinson and you will have your connections.

I would backup your original database prior to the import, in case any thing
goes wrong.

Hello

I have to receive a large Higton file. I have a Margaret Higton who married
a Robinson and I would like to join a Robinson tree to the Higton tree at
this point.

Is it posible at this point or do I have to retype everything again(
including all the notes)

Thankyou
Thomas
