V5 Nov 16 Build, Version 5.0.0.52
Problems when doing a Merge/Find Duplicates.
The documentation says:
"Check Birth Dates
" By default, exact birth dates result in a match. You can specify the
allowable year range by increasing the value. The larger the spread, the
lower the accuracy.
"
"Include Blank Birth Dates
" If you select this option, blank birth dates will match other blanks
and any other birth date. This option, combined with matching last names
and given names, can find some elusive matches, but be careful, many
mismatches are usually found.
" All Rights Reserved
However the following were NOT considered matches when using the default
settings of:
Surname=Exact Spelling; Given Names for a length of 5
(don't include blank given names)
Check Birth dates, Day range=180 days; yes, Include blank birth dates
(don't include birth locations)
Compatible Gender, check AFN, check User ID
Check Compatible parents with Exact Spelling and Given names for a length of
5.
RIN Surname Given Sx BirthDate Father Mother
25 DONNELLEY matching F (blank) Herdon Ford DONNELLEY Lois Lea
"Dollie" MAIN
205 DONNELLEY matching F 14 Mar 1933 Herdon Ford DONNELLEY Lois Lea MAIN
*** The (blank) date did NOT match 14 Mar 1933 (all other criteria
match).
12 MAIN matching F (blank) Francis Ernest MAIN Hazel Maud TYNER
242 MAIN matching F 1935 Francis Earnest MAIN Hazel Maud TYNER
*** The (blank) date did NOT match the 1935 (all other criteria match).
217 MAIN matching M Bef 1846 (blank) (blank)
2026 MAIN matching M 21 Nov 1844 John W. MAIN Sarah THACKERY
*** The "Bef 1846" did NOT match the 21 Nov 1844. I'd say the dates
match
or at least overlap for the purpose of this comparison.
225 MAIN matching M 1898 George Washington MAIN Mary Vianna
BURNS
4 MAIN matching M 14 Nov 1897 George Washington MAIN Mary Vianna
BURNS
*** The 1898 did NOT match the 14 Nov 1897. I'd say it's within 180
days!
Has anyone else noticed this sort of duplicate matching problems?
I haven't check this with version 4 yet, but I recall some discussion
vaguely around this area for version 4.
