I agree... I almost spent over 100 also and I can't imagine that I would
have been as happy with the program. What made me do a "double take"
when I was reviewing several was the openness with which Legacy
encourages you to share your data and the program with family. I will
again be giving the gift of genealogy this Christmas and many of my
recipients don't want to do any "work" but do want to view what I have
done on their PC's.

I figured I needed to checkout a product that it's makers were so
confident of.. (yeah, I know a dangling...). You can function quite
nicely with the standard version. I am pleased that I have found
something I truly use that my son can give me for Christmas and not have
to feel guilty about asking for since they are going to be signing for
their first home and most of us know what that means.... they don't
need to feel obligated to give mom something she doesn't really need or
want and I will have the very thing I want. Oh, and I get to show my
appreciation to the guys.. uh, whole team for all their efforts.

Sounds like win, win to me.

Merry Christmas all,

Laurie

Subject: Cost of program - WAS [LegacyUG] Photos as sources

I have paid out AU$150 for one family history program, and just over
AU$100
for another - both are sitting on my shelf unused. Both have had major
upgrades since my original purchase - not sure how much it would cost me
to
upgrade the first one, but the second would be AU$45. I originally
purchased Legacy Version 3 Deluxe, upgraded to V4 Deluxe, and now to V5
-
all for considerably less than the original cost of ONE of the other
programs - and I'm still using Legacy. I don't have unlimited funds for
software, but I'm happy to pay for the Legacy upgrades because the price
is
so reasonable. If I'd found Legacy before I bought the other two I
would
have more money to spend on certificates etc - or to pay for future
Legacy
upgrades.

Cheers
Jan
