You could create an "Alternate Birth" or "Resided" event with the
location in Germany and then add a note for the event: "This location
is now called ..."
Then in the Master Location list, add the same note for the
location(s).
I have tried to convince the programmers that the data from the USA
county list stating when a county existed should be added as a note to
locations.
The same type of data could be eventually be added for every location
in the world. Someday ...

Sid, I hope you recall my posting a few days ago about people in
my database born in Detroit Quebec, which is today known as
Detroit Michigan. Seems to me that your ancestor was born in
Germany. You can offer the explanation in the event notes or
in the research notes or in the general notes. Or all three! The
wording might be a bit different in the General vs. the Research
notes....
