This may seem like overkill, but one way would be to Export to a new Legacy File (named temp). Select Focus Group and Add an Individual and Descendants. You can then open this temporary file and click on Help > General Information. Note however that this count will include the starting individual's spouse and all the descendants' spouses. When finished with it simply delete the temporary family file. This "exporting" trick can be used for many unusual tasks.
