Not a solution for you, but there is an interesting article in the NYTimes today called "Even Digital Images Can Fade". They suggest that a cd might only be readable for about 5 years!

Subject: [LegacyUG] Burning a Legacy CD

I'm trying to create a distribution disk for my family tree. I have copied the following file/directories to the cd:

LegacySetup.exe
Data (Contains all my family files)
Pictures (Contains all associated images)

The Legacy instructions say to copy the Data and Picture folders to the root of the CD. This indicated to me that if they existed that Legacy would copy them during the install but they aren't getting copied. The Legacy software installs ok and the Data folder on the PC contains the files for the sample family DB. Do I have to manually copy the Data and Picture folders over to the PC's hard drive or is the Legacy install supposed to do it?

Another question...

In the instructions for identifying yourself as an affiliate say:

2. Create a new folder on the CD-ROM called Parter. < -----Is this directory name correct? Or, is it supposed to be "Partner"

Since I'm rambling.... A couple months ago I posted the following:
Can citation photos, such as a picture of a birth certificate, be output to the sources bibliography web page? Or is there some way to include a link to the photo from an individuals page? I accidentally came across the documentation for embedded html tags and used this feature to cause Legacy to assign a link to the source citation name that points to the image. Reading the instructions is always last resort. Right?

Thanks,
Gordon Small
