Subject: Re: [LegacyUG] family information in MS Access database

I recently received an MS Access database containing information on a few hundred people.Actually there is a way that is not too complicated. First create a dummy family file called test with one entry. Then open bothe the dummy file and the access file in access and cut and paste the information into the appropriate locations. You may have to do some tweaking but it will save a lot of typing.
Is there any way to format this information into a GEDCOM file, or some other means that can be used to get the data into a Legacy family file?
If there isn't, I had better start typing! Thanks for your help.

Thank you Gene! I wasn't aware that I could open the Legacy family file in Access. If Robert's Excel to GEDCOM doesn't work out I will certainly be doing this instead of typing.
I also want to thank everyone for their comments. I've been puzzling over this problem for a while and keep wishing for a nice program that could map fields from one database into fields of another. It is the sheer volume of records that encouraged me to seek out an automated (or nearly automated) solution.
