When building your pages, are you using a single directory or splitting the pages across several?

The problem is now the ancestors in the boxes for the two persons chosen for the descendancy do not have clickable links on their names. Is there an easier way to update my website rather than doing the whole thing, which took 6 hrs for 170 mb at highspeed cable connection?
