I have not used the the Descendant or Ancestor
Interest settings. They are sort of buried,
especially for someone converting to Legacy and not
doing a lot in the edit window.
Seems like it would be a logical addition to display
the Descendant or Ancestor Interest level on the
Family View similar to the three tag buttons above the
name. Obviously, it would be a setting, not a button
and wouldn't even need to be changeable from here,
just displayed.

Hi Mike,
Welcome to the Legacy List.
In Legacy you can separately source the link to Father
and the link to
Mother and give those sources a surety level. However
you can't do visibly
quite what you want.
What I do is to add a word in brackets to the Given
Name. Then it is
obvious on screen and in reports that I'm not sure of
this link. In fact I
would normally not share this link until I was sure
and begin reports at
the next generation.
I have things like Peter (probable) Houstoun and James
(guess) Craig.
Probable as he was a witness at children's baptism and
the family had kept
a death card for him. Guess because this is the only
Craig with a James
born on the right date in the Scottish OPR - not a
strong basis but worth
checking out to find the next generation back.
You could perhaps use the Descendant or Ancestor
Interest for this purpose.
They only show on the Individual Screen though so may
not be visible enough
for you. They have the advantage that you can search
for them which you may
find useful for research purposes.
From the Help File:
>Ancestor and Descendant Interest
>
>The two fields in the bottom right corner of the
Information window are
>used to express your interest level in the ancestors
and descendants of
>the current individual. The value can range from 0
to 3. 0 indicates no

for high interest.

Re colours of tags. It's just the colour of the tag
square. If you have the
Deluxe version you have 9 tags but, on the Family
View, can only show three
at a time. Colour coding them can help show which ones
are showing or what
they represent, if you respond quicker to colour than
to number.
Cheers,
Cathy
