John, You are missing extreme complexity and very confining entries.
If you don't believe me I can point you to a program, which I
abandoned, because of this problem. Contact me off line if you would
like the name of the program and good luck to you if you decide to try
it.

Legacy allows you to enter your locations in what ever way you like.
You can enter "New York City" or "New York, New York", or "Queens
County, New York", or "Richmond Hill, Queens County, New York" or
"Probably New York". What ever suits you. I sure hope it stays that
flexibile. In Legacy the entry remains your choice and your
decision. I personally like it that way.

I am not saying Legacy is percfect in every way. For my purposes it
has one major flaw, which seems to be my personal opinion, since I
have complained about this for all the years I have used the program.
But no one else seems interested. So be it. But Legacy is still the
easiest program to use, has the best interface and a great deal of
flexibility. That flexibility makes the program extremely useable by
all kinds of researchers. The program is basically stable, albeit with
occassionally glitches, which beats the heck out of other genealogy
software.

My feeling is - don't try to make people march in lock step just
because some individuals can't do exactly what they want. Besides,
maybe the answer is in the sort method. Maybe this can be fixed
enought to satisfy most with a more elaborate sort method. Just an
idea.

Just my thoughts. But I couldn't sit back and listen [read] all this
complaining about a feature needing fixing which I don't consider
broken. As a matter of fact I consider the way locations are handled
now a plus feature.

Claire
