If you include [MRIN] in the title field (I think this is done by default, or maybe I added it, I'm not sure) the heading of Family Group Sheets includes the MRIN.
The Family Group filing approach caters for all the cases Elizabeth mentioned, as I'm sure others do as well.

Family group sheet will preview for a single individual in Legacy 5 Deluxe but there is no MRIN number. Whatever printing and filing system is selected, consider a method that will show similar information for siblings who might have been single for life, officially married or had a children without an official marriage.

Sometimes a known spouse is left out of a family history by request in the case of an unhappy event. It is hard to pick a combination of Legacy report settings for living people with blended households.

I'm a real neophyte at this filing game, but so far I really like filing under Family Group. For me that's the important thing. Whether you number it with the MRIN, or the RIN of the Father or a random number is secondary
