We already have that, if I understand you correctly.
For Bold, you use " (that is ALT 0174) b and " (ALT 0187)
I hope this shows, this is plain text and I don't know if it will allow
special characters, but here goes.
Code to start Code to Stop
Bold "b" "/b"
Italics "i" "/i"
Underline "u" "/u"
Subscript "sup" "sup"
You can mix them up to get bold underlining, italicized superscripting,
overlap the codes, anyway you wish. You didn't say which edition you have,
but this feature is a Deluxe Edition feature.
Go to Help, and type in "embedded" and click on Text Formatting. It will
explain more there.

Subject: [LegacyUG] Reports.
I have heard rumours to the effect that Legacy is working on a version 6 of
the programme. This is to be applauded and in this regard I have a "wish".
I frequently print notes of people contained within my system and desire to
use bold letters, italics or whatever. I can do this however it involves
the use of a weird process and I long for a simple exercise to carry out
these operations such as is included in most word processing programmes.
