Glenn,

A multimedia backup doesn't open with the File > Restore Family File. You
need to use WinZip or a similar compression program or Windows XP
compression utility to extract the files.

Thanks for using Legacy.

Subject: Re: [LegacyUG] Problem restoring a family file

Good suggestion. When I unchecked the hidden files option, I saw the file
had a .dat extension. That is, the full file name was Woodman Family
Backup.zip.dat. How in the world .dat extension got there I have no idea.
I renamed the file, removing the .dat extension. Legacy restore was then
able to "see" the file, and the restore process was completed, apparently
without a hitch.

But now another problem. When I try to restore the multimedia files, I get
the error message "The zip file C:\Legacy\Data\Legacy Multimedia Backup.zip
does not contain a Legacy Family File for restoring." The only option then
is to cancel the process. I confirmed that my photos are not present on the
new computer. Any other suggestions?

Glenn Woodman
