I also created a dummy family
- New individual John Smith born 1800
- Add son William born 1825
The descendant narrative says
John SMITH-[1] was born in 1800.
John married. They had one child: William.
William SMITH-[2] was born in 1825.
- Changed the "marriage status" to unmarried
The report now says
John SMITH-[1] was born in 1800.
John had a child. They had one child: William.
William SMITH-[2] was born in 1825.
Note : "They had"
- Changed John's status to "This Individual Never Married"
And the report now shows correctly
John SMITH-[1] was born in 1800.
John never married. He had one child: William
William SMITH-[2] was born in 1825.
But now
- Add a "New Wife" ie not the mother of William, as Mary Brown born 1801,
married 1827
- Add a daughter Mary born 1828
Now the "This individual never married" is unavailable and the report says
John SMITH-[1] was born in 1800.
John had a child. They had one child: William.
William SMITH-[2] was born in 1825.
John married Mary BROWN-[3] [MRIN:2] in 1827. Mary was born in
1802. They had one child: Mary.
Mary SMITH-[4] was born in 1828.
We've got back to "They had one child" after "John had a child". Who are
"They".
So a status of "unmarried" works in general, but seems to give some odd
wording, especially if the person did marry at a later date
I didn't bother with events etc, just to keep the test simple. I think a
little extra thought is needed in the wording where there is no named
partner or marriage date/place etc (maybe you've added the approx date and
place from a BMD index, but don't know which person was the wife until the
certificate arrives and so there is no person created yet)
