There has been some discussion about the usage of .pdf files and just found out about this site.......

http://docmorph.nlm.nih.gov/docmorph/

This is a US Govt site by the U.S National Library of Medicine of the National Institutes of Health. The basic online function, DocMorph, is somewhat limited but should fill the needs of most. It will convert any text, word, word perfect, etc. etc. file into a .pdf. Can also convert to a .tif format for photos and does synthesized speech. AND, the Extract Text feature uses optical character recognition (OCR) to convert scanned images to text. This site appears to be a real value for anyone.

If you need a "heavy duty" version you will have to download the MyMorph version.

Free for the registration.
