To Everyone:

General Rules for choosing Notes instead of Source Entries

1. Typically, I use notes for biographical information such as residences and physical characteristics, and/or non genealogical information.
2. I use source entries for such items as birth, marriage, deaths, and evidence of familial relationships.
3. I use research notes when the item refers to an action by the researcher, supplemental information undocumented comments or traditions, research notes,

Legacy has A very good event database that let's you cite the different sources for each event. It also allows you to cite (general) notes. I'm trying to limit the citing to events To items as birth, marriage, deaths, and evidence of familial relationships. Rule # 2 With the ability to source general notes you can write the chronological history of the person . For example You really donot need to cite a 43 different war time letters to the parents just one source citing in the general notes Another example is my grandmother living in 116 different places in the world . The different places in the world does not help me in identifying the person, the birth, marriage or death. It does allow me to write a narrative of the old gal life.

I really hope Legacy staf will completely allow a sentence to be citied in general notes. such as a footnote.

Any thoughts
