Alternatives to using ToDo:
---Enter alternate events. Eg, alt. birth date. Could modify Family View
to show Alt. birth dates. Events show in book reports.
---Use Research Notes - I think they are/can be printed in reports.

WAIT: Here is something amazing I just tried in my Sample database:
Entered "Feb 14 1647 or 1648" and I'll be darned if it didn't display back:
"Feb 14 1647-1648" !!!!! That sounds like just what you were asking for in
the first place -- at least for situations where the year is "this OR that".

Wow - just stumbled on it, literally.

And have just read emails from Cathy, explaining double-dating. However,
this works the same for "Nov 11 1900 or 1901" entered --> "Nov 11
1900-1901" is displayed.

I am transcribing records for my daughter in law on her family line. The
dates that were given sometimes make no sense but I am entering them into
Legacy so she can then either prove or disprove the information therein. I
will at least present her with the information at hand and she can sort it
out from there. It looks to me as if the dates are either an indication
that the old numbers were difficult to read so they put down both sets of
what they thought they were reading. In my own line I sometimes come up
with two different dates for an event. Most often they are a few days apart
but not always. I like to have both dates presented to me on the Family
View screen it helps me to quickly visualize the problems. By putting
everything in the To Do list hides it from immediate view, besides I don't
always look there.

Donna,
What does 18 Feb 1657-1658 mean? You know the month and day but not the
year? Just asking. Knowing your goal can help us come up with suggestions
for data entry.

I think you can type just "bet" and get the same results - in case every
keystroke saved helps you any.

I am just recent user of Legacy, but it may be they tightened up the
formatting in order to improve the sorting on date capabilities.

If I try to do

18 Feb 1657-1658

It shoots back with

18 Feb 1658

It will not accept the two dates together but it will if I leave a space
between them and the -

What is really annoying is that Legacy use to allow me to do this.

Donna
