IMHO, the MSD date is more along the line, when you acquired the data, not exactly the
keypunch date. I had stuff I had entered into a now dead computer (crash), and I had
dated all my photocopies as recieved, and used that date. The detail date is more of a bookkeeping function, i.e. when you get new info on people, the detail states who all was changed, but the MSD date is for the source, and might be changed when the source is edited. On a trip
to SLC I came back with a new suitcase to carry all my photocopies, (about 9" tall. I used the SLC trip dates for all MSD, but detail got the KP. It only matters if you care either way.
It is just a tool.

Subject: [LegacyUG] Why 'recorded date' different?
Hi, There is a question that has always puzzled me so here I am asking at last. Why, on the 'Edit Master Source Definition' screen the date recorded has to inserted manually whereas on the detail page it can be entered with the click of the button - so much easier. I never enter it on the Master Source as it is too much trouble but always on the detail. Does it really matter? Tks for help.
