FTM 11 and earlier need the custom option for Legacy to split notes between whole words. I don't have Legacy 5 loaded on this computer to check exact wording.

FTM 2005 was changed to expect GEDCOMs with notes split like Legacy in the middle of words.

Legacy GEDCOM saved as GED 5.5 will have fewer errors than the default GEDCOM with custom Legacy details.

The specific file transfer issues will depend on custom fields used for Legacy data entry, especially detailed repositories. -- Elizabeth

A branch of my tree is being prepared to be sent by GEDCOM
to a person using a later version of FTM (10, 11, 2005). I am
concerned about the transfer of data to that program,
particularly the events and sources. Can anyone tell me what
type of GEDCOM is best to send (such as Basic, Generic or 5.5)
and what I can do beforehand to minimize data loss or
misplacement?
