Hi Jan,
So long as you have enabled tagging in Options > Customise, you can see the tags on Family View. You need to have the number you are interested in at the moment showing. If it doesn't show up clearly enough, change the colour of the tag box on Options > Customise > Colours Tab.

You can cycle through all Tag 3s for example by using the arrows at the bottom of screen and enter the User ID on the Individual Information Screen - however this may be too much clicking.

A better alternative for this job is to use the Name List.
Make sure the tag you are interested in is one of the ones showing.
See Advanced Tagging screen (right click tag boxes on Family View or ... there are all sorts of ways to get there)

Open Name List
Click Search - Show All Tagged x
Now you have a list of just those individuals tagged eg 3.
Click on the Edit tab and enter the User ID - although it just says ID it means User ID.
and move on down the list.

Hope that helps,
Cathy

I have just finished combining all my family lines into one file. Because my filing User ID #'s are different for each line - I tagged each line # (3-7). Now I would like to go to index and put in my own User ID #'s info for each person but index won't let me write to it. Does Legacy have a window that will show me tag #'s and let me write in User ID #'s there or do I have to go to each person individually and do this? Or is there a way to have a User ID # added to all individuals with tag #3 etc.?

When a family file is imported or exported will the tags stay with it? Is there a problem if marriages are not tagged?

TIA

Jan
