I know that my experience with SP-2 was unusual.  Most people's
installs go fine, and one can increase your chances of it working right
by doing exactly what Myrna did.  Reformat hard drive, Fresh Install
XP and then put SP2 on top.  But that ignores two points.
1)  There is a small chance that one can do serious damage to your
      software and/or your data with this service pack.
2)  Bill's minions hype this thing as the great cure-all for previous
     problems with their bugware, ignoring the fact that this great
     patch itself needs patching!

Oh, and BTW I followed the directions too!
