I finally went to the earliest ancestor and added his "father"  -no first 
name- last name  Lefebure [[see LaFavor]].  I don't know what it will do in 
reports etc. but at least if I come upon the Lefebure I will know where to 
find this family.

That makes the alternate name show up in the "Name List" but I'm still am 
not getting the alternate name in the index on the Descendant Book Report 
or Pedigree Web Pages. I'm open for more suggestions...

I have the same problem.
On the report when the "Report Options -> Include -> Alternate Names" 
box
is
not checked:
5.  William Joseph SCHMALZ was born on 22 Jan 1899 in Cleveland, 
Cuyahoga,
Ohio,  USA.

When the "Include Alternate Names" box is checked:
5.  William Joseph SCHMALZ was born on 22 Jan 1899 in Cleveland, 
Cuyahoga,
Ohio,  USA.  Another name for William is William Joseph SMALL.

I don't see an entry for the alternate name, "William Joseph SMALL", in
the
index. Is there something else I'm missing? I'd like both names in the
index. (Tried it on Descendant Book and Pedigree Web Pages)
