Since we are discussing adoptions here. I actually have a question on that. I just viewed a Census record that showed my great grandmother as being "adopted". This was the first I'd heard of it! She was born in 1887 I believe (don't have my notes to refer to, sorry).
How do I uncover her adoption, if it indeed occurred? She was born in San Francisco, California - or so I was always told, but now everything is in question and I am frankly at a loss as to how to proceed. Any help out there, please?
