I have step brothers & step sisters. I find it useful to easily go between them and myself by showing 1/2 kids.
You can turn of the view of 1/2 siblings (which I find useful) by right clicking on any child, Select "View" and then click on "Show 1/2 Kids." You can likewise turn this view on at any time by following these same steps.
