IGI Searching still works just fine without having the Geo Database installed. So, all of those who are standard edition users can still use the IGI Search feature.
As the message states the Geo Database will help the Legacy IGI Search feature figure out what regions to search. I'm sure many of you have locations entered where you have not entered a country name or you may have other parts of a location like the County or State that is missing. For each IGI Search we have to figure out how to take a location you have entered in Legacy and map that to one of the regions or localities on the IGI site. The Geo Database helps us in these cases to automatically figure out what a place really is and then we can be more accurate when we search the IGI.
Thanks

Legacy 5.0.0.203 (04 Feb 2005 version) has this feature now built in. Click on Search / Search the IGI website... And you will be able to do the IGI searching right from within Legacy. If you don't have this version, click on Internet / Check for Legacy Update... And download the newest version.
You should also have the Geo database installed. If not, you can go to Options / Customize and on the "Other" tab, select "Database Maintenance..." This should get you up and running with the IGI searching capabilities.
Yeah, I just used it. Found somebody already in my database too. But why does it want to use the Geo Database? I don't have that installed. And when I do the IGI search up comes a Geobase installation screen (???!!!) Why? That's one of the bugs IMO. I should be able to search the IGI from within the program just as I can on the web, without all the Geobase stuff. Even granting that the geobase makes IGI searches better, I should still be able to do the searches without geobase. Strictly speaking I can, but I don't want to have to dismiss the humongous dialog box wanting to install geobase every time.
