You can NOT leave both Family name and Given Name blank in Legacy. It is common when you do research in 1500's that you find notices that some ones wife died at a given point without any given name.

I would love to leave them blank how can I do that?

A solution I have found that works well for me when I don't know a wife's name is to assign a last name in parentheses ie;

The wife of John Somebody would be listed with her first name (if known or leave blank if unknown) and the last name of (Somebody). If you wish you can also include [[ ]] like so, [[(somebody)]] so it doesn't print. I know a lot of purists will scream but its MY file so I'll continue to do so. It helps to differentiate between Mary Unknown and Mary Unknown. Gene
