Thanks To all. I appreciate your input. I started using Legacy in the very
beginning I think it was version 2 or 3, 1990's, can't remember which and
have faithfully upgraded since then. With each upgrade the source data
underwent a change. Now I am trying to rectify the situation. I want the
source to print once for each individual that it is on, but not the second,
third, etc time. That way I can see the description for each individual
without having to root through a lot of extra material. I also noticed that
the source footnote would change in number from printing to printing so it
made it difficult to make corrections without having a print out of the
before and after. I think perhaps each upgrade made enough changes that
things got moved around to the place the program thought was the most
logical. Unfortunately it was not what I thought was logical and now I am
scrambling to straighten it out. A lot of the toots and whistles that we
have today were not present on the earlier editions so the changes had to
have some effect on the data that was present. I still like the program but
do wish they would take some care in preserving the old data the way we
entered it. It is easy to lose data on an upgrade no matter what they say.

Hi Donna,

Susan has told you why you may have some duplicates and a way to fix this.
A way to stop this happening is to set up the source and source detail on
the Source Clipboard and use the Source Clipboard to add it each time it is
appropriate.

If you really want to get rid of all Source Details in Reports, you can
reset all those ticks by going to Options > Customise - Sources Tab
untick the Include source details on source citations on reports - and
click the Reset button. If it does what it says, this will work for you. I
usually try things before posting to make sure it's currently working as
expected but I'm not about to try this one as I have a deliberate mix of
ticked and unticked source detail. I've used it in the past.

I would like an override button on reports so that for some reports I could
say in effect - forget the ticks and don't print any source details, text,
comments - or forget the ticks - print all source details complete with
detail text, comments
The only way to do this currently is to export to a temporary file and
reset them.
I'd also like to be able to reset the ticks on the Source Detail tabs just
for a particular Master Source rather than all Sources. You can probably do
this in Access but I'm not an experienced Access user.

Cheers,
Cathy
