The only way I can think of is to filter the name list by the tag (by searching for all inidividuals with that tag) then change each record to Private from the Edit pane of the search results dialogue. You can use the down arrow key to move down the list to select each person in turn, and click the private box with the mouse, so it's fairly quick, but not what you would call elegant!
Someone else may have a better idea.
