When I tried to find the pages that had altered they were all selected
because of the new date

Gordon is quite right and I am using the Pedigree style for my web pages.

With respect to the consequential changes to other files when one is changed
that is a problem and I have not worked out a way of doing this other than
to make a list as I go along. Thanks, Gordon, for the suggestion re Vica
Versa which I must have a look at.

The only solution to the change in source references that I have found is to
include them on the individual's Pedigree page and then they don't matter.
