- How do I get it to generate something "useful," more or less like the
personal family trees posted at ancestry.com? Do I do one set of
pedigree type, starting with myself, another with descendants starting
with (who?), another of ancestors, and so on? I don't mind generating
lots of pages, but it looks like I need a bit more guidance.

It did it the other way around. I started at my son and worked up. Ancestor view. Everyone in my database is now in the tree. If I started the other way around, large sections of the database were left out for correct reasons of sections of the tree not being descendants of that person. However, everyone in my tree is related to my son in some way, shape or form.

Creating web pages from this data almost seems as if it's a product in and of itself. I'd be willing to pay to see dramatic improvements over what we can do now. The looks presented are very dated, though quite functional and many elements are not handled automatically. I'd love to be able to see multiple pictures (a gallery) per person instead of the limit of a single graphic. Plus the captioning doesn't work in Firefox which is gaining popularity quickly. The hover concept for that is very awkward. I'd much rather see static captions and descriptions as part of a table holding the graphic. No mouse hover would be necessary and it would work with all browsers.
