Individuals with single names need to be checked after a GEDCOM transfer to Legacy. A sample PDF report shows Debbie, Eve, Karen, Kim, Liz, Liza, Meg (No Given Name). New data entry in the same file would show first names listed in alphabetical order under (No surname) at the beginning of a Legacy book index.

The choice of data entry methods for a Legacy book might be different than the choice for an online search. Does a suffix or prefix or alternate name affect the online search? Very difficult to plan a name data entry method that reads well in a Legacy report, identifies a specific individual in a book index and identifies a specific individual in a list of names.

As long as the file owner _likes_ the results of data entry methods, all it well. Name problems in a book index could easily be overlooked by a researcher who concentrates on editing a lengthy RTF file in a word processor. -- Elizabeth
