I don't know that the trend has dominated the genealogy quest today, but I do know that with all the intermarriages it is most helpful to make a wide canvas of the families and their brothers and sisters and spouses. I don't follow lines that will lead me no where except in some cases where I have an interest in a group of people in a particular county or town. While I am following my genealogy I am also interested in my families history and that history is made up by the people who lived during their life time. Inveribly these families seem to tie in some where either in the past or present and will perhaps in the future. Family historians are a bit different I think than just straight genealogy. Anyway that's my thinking. God bless.

I realize that this comment and question is not on the topic of Legacy BUT as I read all of your emails many tell of a data base of 10,000--20,000-- even 30,000 individuals in your database with Legacy. For myself I go back 8 generations for my bloodline 14 generation with my mother's family, and 9 generations with my wife's side of her family with both parents. This includes all children within each generational family. And I have only tops 670 individuals. Yes, I have not expanded on all 13 children of my 4th great grand father. just my bloodline. Now my question:
Is there a trend to expand your family tree in every direction to amass such a hugh amount of family tree with 30,000 individuals? and Why has this trend dominate the genealogy quest today?
