Backing up "the Legacy program" as Ron is asking
and backing up data are two different problems.
Backing up the program would mean having it on
other media such as CD or available for download
via the Internet as suggested.

It is best to start a reinstall in a clean place.
Remember = Never put clean clothes on a dirty body.
With MS Windows this isn't always very easy.
If a reinstall is required because of corrupt files,
it would be nice to know what registry entries need
to be removed and what subdirectories should be deleted.
I seriously doubt that Legacy's uninstaller removes
all its files and entries. I have yet to see
an uninstaller that did. Perhaps Millennia Corp
could write a doc showing us how to truly clean Legacy
out of our systems, so we may be better assured that
the reinstall will be clean.

Ron,

Just go to our website at http://www.LegacyFamilyTree.com/Tips.asp, where
you'll find an extensive article under "Backing Up and Restoring Family
Files".

You can always download the latest build of the program itself from our
website. All updates are cumulative.

Thanks for using Legacy.

Subject: [LegacyUG] Back-up

Hi all,

Will SKS please advise how to back up the Legacy program itself and what
files need to be included? With all the updates now installed in the
program, it would be hell to start back from the original CD and have to add
the updates. Is it possible to do this or is the program protected in some
way to guard against piracy?
