If you were to use the event "Census" rather than "Residence" you could avoid creating a source: the event becomes a source unto itself......at least it is to my way of thinking.

Hi Dee, This is what I do with the Census address. 1)
I use the Event called Residence. If the 1910 Census
gives the address 902 Gilmore Street, Independence
twp, Sullivan Co.,Missouri. Residence goes in the
Event box, the description is 902 Gilmore Street and
the place is Independence Twp, Sullivan Co., Missouri.
The date would be 1910. Then I enter the source as the
1910 Census and put the relevant information in the
detail. If later I find information that says that he
lived in the same place in 1909 etc. I would go back
to the same Event and edit the date to 1910/1919 and
add the second source. Every time I found a source
giving this same residence address but for a different
year, say the 1920 census had the same address, just
change the residence date 1910/1920 and add the 1920
Census to the source.
Hope that is clear. I do not remove any of the sources
only add to them for they all prove that he lived at
this address between the two dates.

How about listing the addresses in Events? I
started this way since the
first addresses I found were on censuses, which are
not actual vital records
events. Of course, they could also be listed in
Notes. I will be
interested if anyone else has other ideas.

Hello Leon and list
May I give an example of the type of entry I wish
to make

Grandfather born 1899 at 18 Worth Street,
Collyhurst, Manchester,
Lancashire, England
If I enter this completely in the location field for
his "born" entry then
enter the details again in the rolodex for birth
address I get double
entries in the Chronology and FGS

So I thought that I would enter in the Born
location, Manchester,
Lancashire, England
THEN in the rolodex birth address just put 18 Worth
Street, Collyhurst

However I then get a mix of both that says Born at
Manchester, Lancashire,
etc
then "lived at 18 worth street, Collyhurst" in the
various reports

How would others enter this data
Regards
John
