Here are my findings:
(1) IPTC information is always ignored.
Agreed. I don't use these fields. I also do not use many EXIF fields as some imaging software do not comply with the standard for the various fields. I use EXIF Description and the JPEG Comments fields almost exclusively.
(2) If ANY EXIF information is present JPG comment is ignored.
I notice you highlighted the word ANY preceding EXIF. This may be the link. See my next comment.
(3) If no EXIF information is present, Legacy prompts to add JPG comment if it exists).
I have not been able to replicate this. I suspect the reason may be linked to the fact that most (all) of my image manipulation software appears to always save the EXIF date modified data. It may be for this reason that Legacy is recognising there is EXIF information (date and time only) but not prompting to include the description because there is no EXIF Description. All I can say is that I have been unable to produce an image file which Legacy prompts to add the JPEG comment field.
(4) If EXIF description is present, Legacy prompts to add description.
Agreed.
(5) If you ever uncheck the box on the include comment screen, you will never be prompted again. To get the prompt back, edit line 388 of the Legacy.usr file, change 0 to 1.
Thanks for that info.
Steve
