That's exactly what I do - use the comments area to state which part of the
name you got from that source and also for birth dates and places when you
get them from different sources. Like Ruth, I also put in comments like
"Year of birth estimated from age given on census"

        Use the "Comments" area of the source citation.  I've used
it occasionally for details like a middle name I've picked
up from some record or other.  I also use it for things like
"estimated from age at death" for a birth date.
