Hello Rob, 1. Navigate to a person who has two or more given names. 2. Click the person so their Individual Information dialog box shows. 3. Place your mouse cursor behind the names in the Given text box. 4. Click the 4th icon from the left that looks like books. When you lay your mouse over the icon, the title "Add or Edit Source Citations" momentarily pops up.
5. The Assigned Sources for: <individual's name> dialog box appears. The row with the event name "Name" will be dark grey. 6. Click the button on the right side of the dialog box that says "Add a New Source" 7. On the Add a New Source dialog box - Source Info tab Under Source List Name, type a name that is pursuant to the individual. This name appears only in the Master Source List so it is easy to find. I typed "First Christian Name (RIN#) - Birth Certificate". Under Type, I typed Certificate. Under Author, type the Author's name, for me it was Local Registrar. Under Title, type the full title of the certificate/ book etc. Under the Text of Source tab, you may want to transcribe how the information was where you found it, under the Comments tab, any comments you may want to put for memory purposes in case you have to return to the source. Under the repository tab, add the details of the location where the source was located. If you have any pictures of the source, you may like to add them under the Pictures tab. 8. Click the Save button. 9. Source Detail dialog box appears. Enter Page number/location etc., Surety Level. Click Save. You will then see in the Assigned Sources for: Individual's name in the Source List Name column a source called "First Christian name (RIN#) - Birth Certificate" and in the Detail column, details of the source that I had entered. Now repeat steps 6 through to 9 for every new source for a part name that you require. When you are done creating your sources for the name, click Close then click Save on the Individual's Information Screen. I can create any given individual three separate sources such as: - "First Christian Name (RIN#) - Birth Certificate" - Details .... - "Second Christian Name (RIN#) - Census" - Details .... - "Third or more Christian Names (RIN#) - " - Details ... These all appear under and next to the events title "Name" and before the events title "Birth" In fact you can assign as many sources as you require for each event. To test, run an individual report on the person, and preview. In the report, behind the name of the individual you will see (in this case) 3 superscript numbers behind the surname. Scroll to the bottom of the report, you should see all the sources that you've just typed in for these names, there locations etc. I certainly hope that helps you with your sourcing different parts of names.
